App registration: identity is not permission

An app registration gives a software application an identity so it can sign users in and request access to protected APIs. Think of it as the application's identity card, not a permission slip.

For Phenix Lite, that distinction is practical: identifying the mobile app and authenticating a user are necessary, but neither proves that the app may read that user's financial account.

From native sign-in to revocable financial access

A successful login is not the same as permission to read a financial account. We tested that distinction in Phenix Lite: a native Android application signed in through Ireti IAM, displayed an authorized own-balance response, and then denied the next read after access was revoked, without requiring the user to sign in again.

This was a bounded development proof on an Android emulator, not a production launch. Its value was demonstrating the complete journey and the boundaries that must remain intact when we extend it.

A common platform mistake is to make the identity provider decide everything a user may do. Authentication and authorization are related, but they are not the same responsibility.

Ireti Identity establishes who is present. Ireti Platform determines what that principal may do, for which organization, workspace, application, and resource, using current platform state.

Application infrastructure for emerging-market builders

The next generation of software companies in Africa and other emerging markets should not have to rebuild identity, workspaces, billing, entitlements, and application lifecycle before they can ship their actual products.

Ireti Platform exists to provide that common foundation. Arrowflow applications use it first; selected builders and partners can use the same contracts as they mature.

An application is not ready for customers merely because it has an OAuth client. It must be known to the platform, approved for distribution, adopted by a tenant, provisioned against the correct resources, and authorized at launch.

Ireti Platform treats those as distinct stages. That separation lets Arrowflow applications and future partner products share one operating model without sharing databases, credentials, or product authority.

Identity is not ownership: a stronger model for financial access

A signed-in person is not automatically a financial customer. A valid OAuth grant is not account ownership. And a technical user that can call a banking system is not the person whose money is being accessed.

Ireti Platform keeps these facts separate and grants access only when the required relationships intersect for the requested operation.
